Carlton Marsh

The sun shone and it was great to be out and about in the mild conditions (9c) with a light southerly. This morning Bittern was sitting out on the reed beds at 09.40hrs, a Barn Owl flew by at 10.02hrs followed by a Little Egret north. 2 Buzzards were in the air with 2 Sparrowhawks, Gt. Spot Woodpecker was 'drumming' and 2 Redpolls were feeding in Birch. 92 Herring Gulls (2 with colour rings too distant to read) and 6 Common Gulls were on the wader scrape. Peregrine and 3 Willow Tit were noteworthy and 2 Barn owls were located around mid-day (Nigel Clyne)
A Red-tailed Hawk with jesses loomed large in a Birch, but was caught by the owner and taken away later. (R. Laverack/D. Standish)
This evening the Bittern flew to its usual roost at 17.25hrs (DS)

Cudworth
A chiffchaff was at Cudworth sewage works (Ziggy Golebiewski).
