Carlton Marsh

c30 Golden Plover flew south at 07.35hrs. (Geoff Miller) Later 8 Greylag were noisily competing with a similar number of Canada Geese for nest sites while Kingfisher was dashing about over the scrape. 10 pairs of Tufted Duck were also present and 3 Buzzards were up in the air. A singing Coal Tit, 2 Grey Wagtails. 3 Linnets and a good number of yellow Buntings in to roost added more colour to the scene.

Buzzard 3, Fieldfare 2, Yellow Bunting 15, Wood Pigeon c1,000 and a Green Woodpecker. Insects included 1 Peacock and 6 Small Tortoiseshell butterflies. Wood Anemones were coming in to flower.(Chris Parkin)
