Soggy Sunday - Adwick & Old Moor

Called at Adwick Washland late afternoon to see if the rain had brought anything in and to check if any Little Egrets were there. I located 4 Egrets which were all still present when I left, also 2 adult & 2 juvenile Avocets from Old Moor, 4 Green Sandpipers, 1 Lapwing, 1 Snipe and c75 Goldfinches.

Onto Old Moor and on the Wader Scrape were the following:- Shelduck juvenile, Wigeon 1, Lapwing, Oystercatcher 1, Avocet 1 juvenile, LRP 3, Sanderling 1, Common Sandpiper 3, Green Sandpiper 1, Snipe 1, Redshank 7 + 2 on Main Marsh. I heard a Whimbrel flying over but couldn't see it.

The roost tonight had Cormorant 10 and Little Egret 28. The Egrets tonight came in as follows :- 1 @ 19.21, 2 @ 19.55, 4 @ 19.58, 1 @ 20.11, 1 @ 20.13, 7 @ 20.19, 2 @ 20.25, 2 @ 20.27, 2 @ 20.31, 3 @ 20.41, 1 @ 20.47, 1 @ 21.10 and finally 1 @ 21.14. Because of the weather the Egrets came in earlier than they have recently, tonight I watched from the Wader Scrape hide for a change. All the Egrets came in from up the valley tonight, 20 have been present on Edderthorpe today. Therefore the 4 I saw at Adwick (5 seen by Gary Stones later) either didn't roost at Old Moor or I missed them. If they aren't roosting at Old Moor they must be going to Denaby, can anyone help with any reports from Denaby.
