Carlton Marsh

Little Owl was on his usual perch and a Grey Wagtail was feeding young near Bleachcroft Farm. The marsh held 2 pairs of Canada Geese with 5 young each and a pair of Greylags with 5 young. At least 5 pairs of Tufted Duck were chasing around and a Kingfisher was busy (hopefully) fishing to feed young. A Redshank departed south at 16.40hrs. 5 Coot were on eggs and Dabchick, Green Woodpecker and Kestrel were also present. Lesser Whitethroat was singing along with other common warblers and there were plenty of hirundines flying low because of the moderate wind and cool temperatures.
