The Edge 19th March

Wombwell Ings mid AM-Well done to the person who thought to place the wood chippings over the the previously muddy entrance  surround of the hide. Present were 2 Mute Swan, 52 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 196+ Wigeon, 15 Tufted Duck, 10 Mallard, 7 Teal, 7 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 1 Grey Heron, 12 Coot, 4 Moorhen, 16 Golden Plover, 5 Lapwing, 3 Redshank, 3 Dunlin, 1 Snipe, 84 BH Gull, 3 Common Gull, 7 Skylark, 2 Sand Martin and 3 Reed Bunting.
Broomhill Flash late AM-Noted were 2 Mute Swan, 58 Canada Geese, 3 Greylag, 3 Shelduck, c50 Wigeon, 19 Tufted Duck, 11 Mallard, 10 Gadwall, 6 Shoveler, 5 Pochard, 2 Teal, 2 Red Legged Partridge, 4+ Little Grebe, 17 Coot, 3 Moorhen, 3 Redshank, 2 Oystercatcher, 250+ BH Gull, 1 Sparrowhawk and 1 Kingfisher.
TPT- Singing males- 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Song Thrush. Also 1 drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM-On the open water were 3 Mute Swan, 8 Canada Geese, 4 Greylag, 29 Tufted Duck, 11 Pochard, 6 Mallard, 6 Goldeneye, 2 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 2 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 2 Cormorant, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Little Grebe, 39 Coot, 5 Moorhen, 265 BH Gull and 4 Common Gull. Also present were 1 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 2 Snipe 2 Green Woodpecker and 2 Grey Wagtail.
