Duck Day

It may appear very tame to the lowland birders but the following counts of wildfowl were very good for the uplands & moorlands and represent a substantial influx.
Upper Windleden Reservoir - 5 Teal and 29 Mallards (usually the odd Canada Goose here (if you're lucky)).
Winscar Reservoir - 4 Canada Geese, 3 drake Wigeon, 86+ Mallards and c20 Black-headed Gulls.
Harden Reservoir - 1 Tufted Duck.
Whitley Common - c120 Lapwings.
Ingbirchwortth Reservoir - 102 Canada Geese, 17 Wigeon, 16 Teal, 68 Mallards, 7 (2 drakes) Shoveler (only the fourth record here since August 2011), 10 Tufted Ducks, 3 Little Grebes, 7 Moorhens, 120+ Black-headed Gulls, 3 Common Gulls and 1 Willow Tit in a tit flock.
Langsett Reservoir - 14 Teal, 89 Mallards, 2 Tufted Ducks and 1 Grey Wagtail.
Low Moor, Upper Midhope - 80+ Fieldfare.
Midhope Reservoir - 10 Teal, 56 Mallards, 1 Tufted Duck and 3 Little Grebes.
