The Edge 17th Apr

Wombwell Ings mid AM- Present were 2 Grey Heron, 2 Mute Swan, 58 Canada Geese, 9 Greylag, 2 Shelduck, 28 Gadwall, 16 Tufted Duck, 8 Mallard, 4 Teal, 3 Shoveler, 2 Wigeon, 4 Redshank, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Ringed Plover, 35 BH Gull, 1 Kestrel, 9 Swallow, 4 Sand Martin, 3 House Martin and 1 White Wagtail.
Bolton Ings late AM/early PM-On the open water were a Coot with 3 young, 7 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Mute Swan, 39 Tufted Duck, 11 Pochard, 10 Gadwall, 10 Mallard, 3 Shoveler, c500 BH Gull and 1 Common Gull. Also present were 21 Canada Geese, 10 Greylag, 1 Pink Footed Goose, 3 Oystercatcher,  2 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Green Woodpecker, 4 House Martin, 3 Swallow and 1 Sand Martin.
Warbler Way-Singing males included 9 Chiffchaff, 9 Willow Warbler, 5 Blackcap, 1 Common Whitethroat and 1 Song Thrush. Also heard a 'booming' Bittern c12.30pm.
Broomhill Flash early PM- Noted were 4 Little Grebe, 2 Mute Swan, 31 Tufted Duck, 3 Pochard, 3 Mallard, 3 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 2 Kestrel and 2 Red Legged Partridge. A Common Sandpiper was seen early AM. Jim Thompson saw a Little Owl on the top lane mid AM.
