The Edge 24th Feb

Wombwell Ings mid AM- Walked on to the  singing sound of 1 Mistle Thrush, 1 Song Thrush and 4 Skylark. Spirits also raised by the sight of c100 Redwing in the hawthorn and 2 flyover Curlew(9.20). Also present were 1 Cormorant, 3 Grey Heron, 3a+2j Mute Swan, c100 Canada Geese, 4 Shelduck, c100 Wigeon, 12 Mallard, 12 Teal, 6 Gadwall, 2f+1m Goosander, 1m+1f Shoveler, 87 BH Gull, 7 Common Gull and 1 Grey Wagtail.
Broomhill Flash late AM- Little Owl showing intermittently near the hedge below the pylon(top of Clegg's Meadow). Also present were 2 Cormorant, 68 Canada Geese, 16 Wigeon, 13 Gadwall, 12 Tufted Duck, 6 Teal, 4 Mallard, 2f+1m Goldeneye, 1 Pochard, 2 Kestrel, 22 Lapwing, 78 BH Gull, 2 Mistle Thrush, 1 Red Legged Partridge and 1 Hare.
Bolton Ings early AM- Present were 2 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Little Grebe, 3 Mute Swan, 11 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag, 17 Tufted Duck, 16 Gadwall, 6m+3f Shoveler, 7 Wigeon, 7 Mallard, 6 Pochard, 4 Teal, 1m+1f Goldeneye, 1 Buzzard(usual place between the east and west pools), 1 Kestrel, 250+ BH Gull, 26 Common Gull, 2 Oystercatcher, 1 Herring Gull, 1 calling Green Woodpecker, c10 Redpoll and 1 Siskin.
