Late Weekend News

Really late but here is the news from the weekend:-

Bolton Ings/Sunday :- A cold clear morning, 1c at 07.30 with ice on all the puddles. Webs count day and as usual most numbers down on last week, exception being Coot at 323. The 7 Great Crested Grebes from last week had moved out and Little Grebes down to 6 including 1 on the river. The first Redshank of the winter was present and nice to see 22 Snipe showing in the sunshine. Full list :- Grey Heron 3, Mute Swan 12, Canada Goose 56, Grey Lag Goose 2, Cormorant 6, Little Grebe 6, Mallard 16, Gadwall 198, Teal 18, Wigeon 28, Shoveler 5, Tufted Duck 23, Pochard 9, Coot 323, Moorhen 16, Lapwing 58, Snipe 22, Redshank 1, Black Headed Gull 91, Common Gull 12, Buzzard 1, Sparrowhawk 1, Kestrel 1, Green Woodpecker 1, Grey Wagtail 1, Jay 3, Redwing 2, Skylark 1.

Old Moor/Saturday :- Meally Redpoll 1 near the Visitor Centre.

Old Moor/Sunday :- Gadwall 312, Wigeon 384, Pochard 13, Goldeneye 3.

Wombwell Ings/Sunday :- Wigeon 85, Snipe 11.

Old Moor/Sunday Roost :- Bittern 2, Goosander 5, Barn Owl 2.

Broomhill Village/Sunday :- Woodcock over.

Old Moor/Monday :- Pintail & Curlew.
