Carlton Marsh

On my way down this afternoon Dave Smith called me to say there was a diminutive Canada Goose on the scrape. It was very small and compact with a short neck and small, dainty bill which, closely resembles Cackling Goose. (Branta hudsonii) The light was fading and we only had our phone cameras.

Also present Kingfisher, c150 Redwings, 2 Tawny & 1 Little Owl calling at dusk.
A Short Eared Owl was hunting over the old Carlton Pit site yesterday at dusk. (Phil Sharpe)
