Several observers convened this evening to try and ascertain just how many Short Eared Owls are present. Unconfirmed reports to Mick Birkinshaw of 3 or 4 have been received by members of the public walking the site. However, on the evidence so far only 2 were seen together tonight, but it is possible that there is one more?  (Mick Birkinshaw, Chris Sayer, Ian Bradfield, Dave Cooke, Ray Dye & me)

Also noted were 8 Grey Partridge, c20 Goldfinch, 2 Kestrels, 15 Starlings & 2 Pipistrelle Bats. c200 Canada Geese were in a stubble field on the north side.

Spoke to Chas today who says a SEO was seen flying high and north from Broomhill. I wonder if there is movement between Broomhill and Rabbit Ings - which could mean that there is 4 birds?

Anything is possible at this game Chris. Last night 1 flew north from Rabbit Ings very high, did it come back to be counted as one of the 2 we had? Mick is convinced there are 3 at least!
