Calrton Marsh Update

E- mail from Mick Birkinshaw.
I was on the disused H & B Railway line on the reserve, I stopped at a gap in the trees overlooking high ground to to the east, when at 5:15pm a Short Eared Owl flew in from the south heading north, it started to circle round as if ready to drop on the field, the bit that isn't ploughed, but was mobbed by crows and started to climb and continue north, as it got higher a passing gull thought it too would have a go along with the crows. It went over the houses and headed north high up.
This would tie in with me seeing one come into Rabbit Ings from the south up high the other night, also a dog walker said they had seen 2 come in from the south!
Could the Broomhill birds be commuting between the two sites?

The male Stonechat was seen again today around a small pond at the base of the southern end of the reserve not far from Mick's office. (Ray Dye)
