Evening visit onto Wombwell Ings to spread the coverage. River not over but plenty of water in the Ings as one would expect. A good thrash around the bushes and trees for the Yellow-browed Warbler that is surely lurking somewhere nearby produced nothing more than a Chiffchaff. Onto the Ings itself where a Pintail (presumably from Broomhill) and a Little Stint (presumably from Wath Ings where only two were showing at the time) were looking like the highlights until a Short-eared Owl came over from Broomhill being pursued by corvids. It gained great height and I watched it until it was a pinprick disappear in the direction of Edderthorpe. A short while (and a couple of shotgun blasts) later and a Short-eared Owl apparently got up from the 'rough stuff' at the Back of Broomhill. Surely a second bird?
Late news from Old Moor was that the Spoonbill remained until dusk. And here it is:
