The Edge

Broomhill Flash mid morning-With the water level down to 3.0, lots of lovely mud has appeared. 5  Green Sandpiper, 2 LRP and 1 Ringed Plover were certainly finding rich pickings. On the open water were 9 Tufted Duck( + broods of 2, 3 and7), 6 Mallard, 1 Gadwall and 1 Little Grebe. A Peregrine passed through at 8.23 am( M. Rushton). Also present were 50+ House Martin, 30+ Swallow, 20+ Swift, 6  Sand Martin and 3 Kestrel.

Bolton Ings late morning- Singing birds included 8 Blackcap, 7 Whitethroat, 5 Wren,5 Chiffchaff2 Blackbird, 2 Sedge Warbler, 1 Reed Bunting,1 Reed Warbler, 1 Yellowhammer and 1 Song Thrush. On the open water were 12 Tufted Duck( + broods of 10,6 and 2), 4 adult Mute Swan and 6 cygnets, 6 Pochard, 3 Gadwall, 5 Great Crested Grebe, 5 Little Grebe + broods of 2 and 2 and 1 Grey Heron. Also present were 3 Oystercatcher, 2 Kestrel, 1 LBB Gull, 1 Cormorant, 1 Kingfisher and 1 Bullfinch.
