A watery edge to things

Broomhill Flash- At mid-morning 8 Tufted Duck, 2 Gadwall with a brood of 7, 3 Little Grebe, 1 Kestrel, 1 LRP and 1 Ruddy Duck were the most noteworthy birds.

Bolton Ings- The thunderstorm late morning put a real dampener on singing birds with 5 Chaffinch, 5 Chiffchaff, 5 Wren, 4 Blackcap,4 Willow Warbler, 3 Whitethroat,1 Yellowhammer, 1 Reed Bunting and 1 Reed Warbler being noted. On the open water were 2 pair of Mute Swans with broods of 2 and 4 cygnets, 25+ adult Tufted Duck + a brood of 7, 6 Gadwall, 1 male and 1 female Pochard, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe, 3 Common Tern and 1 Cormorant. 3 Avocets, 2 Black-tailed Godwits and a Green Sandpiper were visible onthe Waderscrape.Also seen were 3 Bullfinch, 3 Grey Heron, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Kestrel and 1 Sparrowhawk.
