Cool and cloudy weather drops an Avocet at Wintersett.

An avocet was swimming in the middle of Anglers Country Park lake from early morning. It was catching insects and taking occasional siestas on the shallows in front of the hide.  At 4.26 p.m. it flew onto Wintersett Res, where it remained, swimming in the open water.
Also present - Drake American Wigeon, Greenland White-fronted Goose, 1 Pink-footed Goose, 1 female Pintail, 1 Redshank and 1 Redwing.
Wintersett Res. - Drake Smew,  1 pair of Shoveler.
